About this job

Our client, the Lusaka South Multi Facility Economic Zone Limited (LS MFEZ) is a subsidiary of the Industrial Development Corporation (IDC). LS-MFEZ Ltd was incorporated on 25th June 2012 with a mandate to manage, operate and develop the LS-MFEZ. The main purpose of establishing the LS MFEZ is to promote manufacturing activities, to be supported by commercial and residential facilities. The line Ministry for LS-MFEZ Ltd is Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry.

 

LS-MFEZ Ltd is headed by the Managing Director who is supported by managers in various divisions.

 

ROLE: MANAGING DIRECTOR (REFMD1)

Duties

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

  • To plan, coordinate and control operations of the company and provide strategic direction for the company, its development and growth within the mandate given by the strategic plan, the Board and general guidelines and to develop policies, philosophy and plans to ensure that LS-MFEZ conducts its business in line with its mission.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops and implements the strategic plan for the company in order to generate satisfactory levels of shareholder value and positive, reciprocal relations with stake holders
  • Evaluates and implements LS-MFEZ Ltd annual operating budget plans including strategies against objectives/ policies/ procurement plans submitted by subordinates from all Departments, and thereafter presents the budget to the Board for approval.
  • Reviews constantly the Company’s performance against set objectives and plans as given in the Company’s strategic plan and budgets
  • Ensures that necessary resources are marshaled to finance, equip and run the planned operations and capital projects.
  • Ensures the continuous improvement in the quality of marketing strategies for the company.
  • Prepares and presents to the Board objective periodic reports of the Company’s affairs/performance and related issues, and implements resolutions of the Board within agreed timeframes.
  • Provides leadership, supervises subordinates, agrees, monitors and reviews their performance in order to ensure that they meet their agreed performance objectives/ targets.
  • Coordinates the implementation of technical policies and programmes of the LS-MFEZ.
  • Ensures that the best Corporate Governance practices are followed.

 

EDUCATION / PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Full Grade 12 School Certificate.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Finance or relevant field.
  • Master’s Degree in related field.
  • Minimum ten (10) years post qualification experience, of which 5 years should be at senior management level.
  • Membership to a relevant professional body.
  • Good strategic and business Planning skills
  • Good interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Excellent communication skills, as the jobholder has to interact at the highest level with major stakeholders.
  • Good management and leadership skills
  • Able to galvanize the entire Company into achieving results
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Team building skills.
  • Effective negotiations skills.
  • Must be proactive and result oriented.
