Our client is an international company which deals in construction and industrial products. It has plants and offices in over ten (10) countries in Africa.

ROLE: Manager, Media Relations (Tanzania)

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Among others, the duties and responsibilities will include social media communication managing effective relationships with media stakeholders, acting as a first point of contact regarding all media stakeholder engagements and managing the implementation of external communication protocol, processes and procedures, maintaining working relationship with media outlets, bringing inaccuracies and errors to the attention of the writers and editors.

In partnership with the Marketing and Branding function, facilitating media profiling of the Company and maintaining the required Company image and brand through effective media profiling control. Where required, to act as an alternative spokesperson or media liaise for the Company. Must be a member of a relevant professional body.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• The applicant should have an undergraduate degree in Communication, Journalism or Public Affairs
• The applicant should have at least three (3) years of experience working in media relations
• The applicant should have deep understanding of the client industry including trends and practices as well as media relations and categories
• He/she must have strong relationship building skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, knowledge of social media and excellent interpersonal skills.
