Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead in the formulation and implementation of the MCA-Zambia’s MIS strategies in order to ensure adequate provision of MIS Support to the operating units and contribute to the overall objectives;
  • MIS Systems will include all Information Technology (IT) systems that support the business operations of the MCA. For example, it is envisioned that MCA will have internal systems to support financial management, procurement, project management, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E);
  • IT Director will be responsible for the effective management and development of the
    MCA-Zambia IT infrastructure in accordance with applicable MCC policies and guidelines;
  • Assist in the development and implementation of MIS policies and controls;
  • Ensure maintenance of MIS infrastructure, including the office network, and the delivery of support services in line with service level agreements;
  • The Director will coordinate, as may be appropriate or required, the establishment and management of the MCA-Zambia IT infrastructure with MCC;

  • Lead in development and implementation of MIS-based functional requirements and management of assigned MIS projects to ensure optimal alignment of the MIS infrastructure with current and future needs;
  • Ensure integrity of the MCA-Zambia’s computerized systems and security over data and implement improved security measures, where necessary;
  • Monitor MIS from a risk perspective and take corrective actions as necessary;
  • Manage, motivate and develop the MIS team to ensure that they are well equipped for
    current and future systems challenges and contribute to MCA-Zambia’s IT needs;
  • Development and update the business continuity plan, data back-up plan, disaster recovery plan, MIS infrastructure and training plans;
  • Coordinate the MCA-Zambia’s web-site content development;
  • Coordinate the posting of web-site presentations of major events and MCA-Zambia publications;
  • Conceptualize and prepare, including the creative graphics composition, layout presentation and video-editing of various web content;
  • Monitor the posting of documents, hyperlinks, and graphics on the web;
  • Development and update of the MIS annual budget and work plans;
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience

  • University degree in Computer Science or Information Systems or Information Technology or other related field.
  • A Master’s degree in IT or MBA will be an added advantage.
  • Approximately ten(10) or more years of progressively responsible experience in planning, design, development, implementation and maintenance of computer information systems, including websites, web-based applications, database design and administration, LAN and WAN design and management, and project management.
  • Working Knowledge of SAP.
  • Effective analytical skills.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
