FOR

 

3.1 Report Directly to:

 

School Manager

 

Direction, supervision and guidance in the human resource  function of the School

 

3.2 Report Indirectly to:

 

Administration/Staff Committee

3.3 Direct Reports:

 

This position reports directly to the School Manager

3.4 Indirect Reports:

Works as a part of the management team.

4.0 JOB PURPOSE:

Ensures the proactive development, deployment and maintenance of the human resources strategies, policies and practices for achievement of Lake Road PTA School mission and objectives.

5.0 KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The Human Resource Officer will be responsible for discharging the responsibilities stated below:

Strategy and Planning- 10\\%


•    In consultation with the School Manager develop and execute annual human resource plans to support the Schools strategic aims and objectives.

 

•    Develop, deliver and evaluate the strategic human resource initiatives as necessary.

 

•    Be business partner to management team and build positive relationships to ensure consistency and fair application of human resources approach and practice within the School.

 

•    Support the School Manager and Finance and Administrative Manager with staff budgeting processes.

Human Resource Services Administration- 30\\%

•    Formulate and maintain organisational documents including human resource policies, procedures and practices including personnel information records.

 

•    Support the School Manager with drafting general correspondence and communiqués to staff.

 

•    Support the School Manager with arrangements for All Staff Meetings and retreats.

 

•    Maintain, monitor and administer employment contracts for staff.

 

•    Attend to general filling.

 

•    Attend to general inquiries in a timely manner.

Human Resource Systems Information, Data Management and Reporting- 15\\%

•    Undertake various researches and remain informed of trends, research and legislation that may affect school human resource management, operations and policy.

 

•    Support the further development of and ensure integrity of personnel information, statistics, job descriptions and any other staff related information.

Industrial Relations-15\\%

•    Ensure that industrial relations policies and procedures are maintained and monitored.

 

•    Provide industrial relations advice to staff to ensure that the School complies with all legislative requirements.

 

•    Participate in the collective bargaining process.

 

•    Mediate and assist with conflict resolution and work force grievances and disciplinary actions.

Occupational Health and Safety and Wellness- 5\\%

•    Support the delivery of the Occupational and Safety and employee wellness policies programs in consultation with the School Manager.

 

•      Support the School Manager to ensure adherence to the Occupational Health and Safety legislation.

Organisational and Staff Development- 25\\%

•    Demonstrate a clear commitment to develop, empower and support effective teams and individuals at all levels.

 

•    Create a supportive working environment for all staff in the School and fostering their career development.

 

•    Coordinate staff reviews and development programs in a timely manner (including PMDS).

 

•    Coordinate succession planning and monitor plans at all levels within the school.

 

•    Approve outside learning activities of staff members in accordance with school regulations.

 

•    Undertake and provide guidance, coaching and support to Managers and staff on recruitment processes in accordance with the recruitment policy.

 

•    Coordinate, administer, and evaluate recruitment, on boarding, training plans for achievement of School goals and objectives.

 

•    Provide training to staff as necessary.

6. KNOW HOW AND EXPERIENCE:

6.1 Full Grade 12 Certificate.

6.2 Degree in Human Resource Management or other related business disciplines.

 

6.3 At least 5 years of demonstrable post experience in a generalist human resource environment.

 

6.4 Good Understanding of the Zambian employment laws and best practice.

 

6.5 Strong strategy implementation and drive as well as change management skills.

 

6.6 Strong self-evident report writing and researching skills.

 

6.7 Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Power Point etc) including human resource information systems.

 

6.8 Member of Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management.
