ASSOCIATE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT



Our client, dedicated to fostering the growth of environmentally sustainable businesses in Zambia through innovative market development, capacity building for high-growth enterprises, impactful financing mechanisms, and investment facilitation services, is seeking a competent and qualified ASSOCIATE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT.



Main Purpose of Job:



The Associate Business Development supports the Business Development Manager in identifying and cultivating new strategic relationships toward the development of new business opportunities for overall sustainability. The Associate supports with organisational’s partner and grant acquisition strategy, as well as managing partnerships. Additionally, this role provides project coordination and administrative support across all teams, serving as the focal point for the business development opportunity database, as well as supporting with effective bid resourcing. Additionally, the Associate supports the executive office with scheduling, organization and administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Main Activities

Strategy and Planning

  • Assist in developing business development strategies and;
  • Support creation of business plans and forecasts;

Executive Support

  • Manage scheduling for the executive office;
  • Draft, review and send communications on behalf of the executive office;
  • Organize and prepare for meetings, including gathering documents and attending to logistics of meetings;
  • Answer and respond to phone calls, communicate messages and information to the executive;
  • Prioritize emails and respond when necessary;
  • Coordinate travel arrangements;
  • Maintain various records and documents for the executive office;

Resources Mobilization Support

  • Support the development and implementation of the resource mobilization strategy;
  • Support the preparation of organisational plans and budgets to ensure conformity with the strategic plan and organisational grant acquisition strategy;
  • Assist in conducting research and identifying potential funding sources, including grants, foundations, corporate sponsorships, and individual donors, aligned with the organization's mission and programs;
  • Contribute to developing the organization’s capabilities for successful grant acquisition and management;
  • Support with the gathering relevant information necessary for grant acquisition; and
  • Assist with the identification of opportunities and relevant institutional guidance materials to share with the team;

Proposal Development & New Businesses Support

  • Conduct market research and analysis;
  • Help develop compelling proposals and presentations;
  • Implement processes, procedures, and policies for quality proposal development in compliance with donor requirements;
  • Conduct desk reviews to inform proposal strategy decisions such as problem analysis, partnering and staffing;
  • Provide administrative support to ensure effective and consistent use of the BD opportunity database, tracking proposal resourcing and working across teams to support that resourcing;
  • Prepare and submit compelling grant proposals, applications, and solicitation materials;

Networking and Relationship Building Support

  • Assist with the development and strengthening of a funding pipeline through analysis and proactive support;
  • Assist with developing a donor engagement strategy for key identified donors and stakeholders relevant to priority bids;
  • Work with the Business Development Manager in coordinating regional and technical pipeline meetings ensuring dissemination and communication of effective data and materials;
  • Provide support with creating and seeking opportunities for cooperation, networking, alliance building, learning and knowledge management across the organisation’s work and;
  • Contribute towards cultivating and managing donor/partner relationships and effectively communicate the organization’s strategy;

Knowledge Management, Learning and Sharing

  • Document and share approaches, project and program designs and lessons, case studies and other knowledge products for continuous team learning;
  • Manage projects and grants database to ensure information is shared among the team to capture new opportunities and track ongoing grants;
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices and;
  • Work the technical teams in maintaining a repository of proposal development tools and templates.



Qualifications Experience and Skills:


Competence at Associate level is required to understand and apply advanced policies, practices, procedures, concepts, and principles.



General Education:


  • Full Grade Twelve (12) Certificate



Professional/Academic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Social Science or other related qualifications.
  • MSc. MA in a related discipline is an added advantage Professional and valid membership to a relevant professional body.



Relevant Job Experience:


  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in business development and/or grant acquisition and management, with strong administrative or operational experience preferably in an international development organization.
  • Experience in working with donor programming, rules and regulations such as FCDO, USAID preferred
